My comic strip is about a recent family summer canoeing trip that went terribly wrong. Continue to scroll down to hear more about this summer adventure. Creating this comic strip was very fun, but took a great deal of time to make. This is primarily because I included up to seven characters in a frame. In addition, I made sure that the background was scaled appropriately what occurring in the story.
The characters from right to left are: My Dad, me, Adam (younger brother), my Mom, Tova (girlfriend), and Joseph (youngest brother).
The real issue that occurred that I didn't explicitly include in the story. This is in the eighth frame when the canoe guide is explaining why the canoe will capsize and my Mom and Dad are not paying any attention. In addition to that, my Dad was the only person on that canoe that knew how to canoe properly.
A small aspect in the book, "Vietnamerica," by Gb Tran was the usage of onomatopeia (audio factor in writing). For example, on frame five I included "ZZZOOOOMM" in the car scene to express the fact that we were speeding down the highway. Also, when we were canoeing I included "Splash, splash, splash," to describe the sound in the setting. Although this is a relatively small aspect in "Vietnamerica" it really appealed to me, so I included it in my own comic strip.
